Trekking

The Chalten was named Capital National of Trekking by the Congress of the Nation. This must to that from the small turistic village a variety of trekking can be made towards different attractive natural from the zone, arriving to immense millenarian glaciers, enormous cascades, crossing forests . From short long walks of 15 minutes to long excursions of several days.
The characteristic that distinguishes them is that it is not necessary to be a specialized climber to be able to make them, being apt for all the ages. VIEWPOINT OF THE CONDORES: Difficulty EASY
Is at few meters from the city of El Chalten, starting off from the entrance to the town, can be observed the town in armony with the landscapes that surrounds like the birds that fly on. It is recommendable to do at morning.

CHORRILLO DEL SALTO: Difficulty EASY
Arrived by the Provincial Route N°23, to 5 km from El Chaltén, can be walking or in car, it is a cascade of aprox 20 meters of height, that is hides in a forest of lenga and ñire. It is a nice destiny that is just a short time from the city, recommendable for those people who do not wish to walk so much or not have much time.

LAGUNA CAPRI: Difficulty EASY
Starting from the municipal camping in an end from the town for approximately 1 hour and average, provides a beautiful view to us, from where the Hill Fitz Roy surrounded by an enormous forest can be observed. From here you can chose to follow way the Laguna de los Tres, in the foot of the Cerro Fitz Roy.

Exists two footpaths that lead to the Lagoon Tower, is a long walk that approximately takes to two hours of route, crossing forests and streams, arriving at the viewpoint of the Cerro Torrer which provides a beautiful view of the landscape to us, following by this way we can arrive at the camping DeAgostini Father and to the Laguna Torre, a lagoon on the foot of the hills in whose borders are small ice that are given off, the Great Glacier can be observed. A very recommendable long walk.

Starting off from the public camping "Madsen" is made the same route that towards the Laguna Capri, taking a deflection in the center from this. During the first hour the footpath goes in ascent entering a forest of lengas, in the way and if luck must have an view diversity animals like woodpeckers and hares, at one hour and average we arrive at a viewpoint, with a poster that teaches the name of the different hills that integrate the landscape. At 2 hours and average of this viewpoint we will arrive to the Poincenot Camping, and meters to the Camping Rio Blancor, which is destining to climbers. From this camping begins dificult, an ascent of approximately 400 meters until arriving at the Laguna de Los Tres, from there you can observe the lagoon and glacier De los Tres, the Fitz Roy and the others hills, this is most close that we will be able to arrive from the Cerro Fitz Roy without guides. This and the long walk to the Laguna Torre are those that we think are recommendable, an unforgettable route. From here to approximately 1 hour and average you can arrive at the glacier Piedras Blancas. The way is easy, except for the first sector and the last, we recommended to use boots apt for trekking.

Another activity that can be made in chalten are navigations. About the Lago Viedma it embarks from Bahia Tunel, arriving at the Viedma Glacier. It includes the visit to a tube of vertical granite walls, denominated Amphitheatre of the Cascade. In addition, after noon you prune to make a mini-trekking guidance on ice. Lago del Desierto

At 35 km from El Chaltén, is the historic Lago del Desierto surrounded by a patagónic forest by great fauna, colorful vegetation and mountains.
